Lukas Podolski denies right-wing affiliations following festival controversy

Former national football player Lukas Podolski has addressed the controversy surrounding the ‘Glücksgefühle’ festival during an appearance on ‘Stern TV’. Podolski sought to defend his reputation against online accusations of right-wing or Nazi affiliations following political statements made at the event.

Podolski emphasized that his intention was to prevent his name from being politically co-opted, stating, ‘I am for no Nazis, or whatever is being written.’ He cited his family history and upbringing in Poland as reasons why such labels are personally offensive.

Festival manager Markus Krampe also participated in the discussion, addressing the canceled performance by the band Alphaville. Krampe clarified that the festival's guidelines were not intended to be political, but rather aimed to provide attendees with a brief escape from daily political life.
