Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is conducting a working visit to Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The discussions are expected to focus on bilateral cooperation, regional and international security, and economic integration.

During a meeting with Mishustin, Lukashenko addressed a “common problem” regarding the southern and western borders of Belarus and Russia, stating that the two nations intend to resolve these issues regardless of external opposition. Lukashenko also confirmed that Belarus is meeting and exceeding its commitments to Russia regarding the supply of food and fuel.

The diplomatic activity follows a period of heightened tension, including a recent unannounced visit to Moscow by US CIA Director John Ratcliffe. Additionally, Lukashenko recently ordered a sudden check of the combat readiness of the Belarusian military.
