Lukashenko reaffirms Belarus's commitment to Russia's course

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko reaffirmed his country’s commitment to maintaining a joint course with Russia, stating that Belarus will never “allow Russia to be stabbed in the back.” Speaking at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Minsk, Lukashenko emphasized that despite having a unique perspective on certain aspects of the conflict in Ukraine, Belarus will always follow the decisions made by the Russian leadership.

Lukashenko noted that while he and Vladimir Putin may have different understandings of specific details regarding the situation on the front lines, they remain committed to their shared interests and post-Soviet integration. He described the relationship as being between “brotherly peoples” and asserted that Belarus has never been a traitor to these common goals.

Additionally, Lukashenko expressed support for Vladimir Putin’s recent assessment at the Valdai Discussion Club, where the Russian president suggested the world is at a historic turning point. Lukashenko also characterized himself as a supporter of Donald Trump’s approach, citing gratitude for the exposure of Western, particularly American, policies.
