Lukavac police dismiss social media rumors of mysterious masked figure

Police in the Lukavac region of Bosnia and Herzegovina have addressed rumors circulating on social media regarding a mysterious individual dressed in black. The posts, which included photos and videos, claimed a masked person was approaching homes at night in areas such as Puraći, Turije, and Prokosovići, causing significant anxiety among residents.

The rumors led to a public gathering of citizens in Čapardama and Puraći on September 20, 2026. In response, officers from the Lukavac Police Station arrived at the scene to speak with the crowd.

Adnana Sprečić, spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton, stated that no official reports of such incidents have been filed with the police. Furthermore, during discussions with the gathered citizens, no one was able to personally confirm seeing the individual depicted in the social media posts. Authorities suggested that the information and footage circulating online are likely unreliable and untrue, urging citizens to report any actual suspicious activity to the police via the 122 emergency number.
