Luke Evans to star in new ITV drama The Party

ITV is set to release ‘The Party’, a five-part drama series based on the novel by Elizabeth Day. The production stars Luke Evans as Martin Gilmour, a journalist whose life is deeply intertwined with Ben Fitzmaurice, a charismatic and wealthy politician played by Tom Cullen.

The narrative follows the lifelong bond between Martin and Ben, beginning from their time at an elite boarding school. The story centers on a lavish birthday celebration at the Fitzmaurice estate, which is complicated by news of a Conservative leader’s resignation and Ben’s potential political ambitions. The drama utilizes a non-linear structure, moving between the events of the party, a subsequent police investigation, and flashbacks to the characters' shared history.

Showrunner Sarah Solemani also appears in the series as Lucy, Martin’s pregnant wife. The cast includes Joanna Scanlan, Lydia Leonard, Lindsay Duncan, and Douglas Hodge.
