Luke Grimes clarifies relationship with Kevin Costner after Yellowstone exit

Luke Grimes Kevin Costner Yellowstone Marshals spinoff Taylor Sheridan

Actor Luke Grimes has revealed that he has not spoken with former Yellowstone co-star Kevin Costner since their work on the series concluded. In an interview with USA Today, Grimes clarified that the lack of communication is not due to personal animosity, but rather because both actors are busy with their respective lives and careers.

Costner, who played John Dutton, departed the series after Season 5 amid reports of production tensions and scheduling conflicts. Regarding the possibility of Costner returning for the CBS spinoff Marshals, Grimes expressed doubt that such a reunion would occur.

Grimes, who stars in Marshals as Kayce Dutton, suggested that if the series were to utilize flashbacks, he would prefer to see his character's wife, Monica Dutton, featured rather than John Dutton, noting it would be more poignant for the character's development.
