Luke Humphries withdraws from European Darts Championship

Luke Humphries has withdrawn from the European Darts Championship in Dortmund due to gastroenteritis. The English player, who recently won the World Grand Prix, was considered a top contender for the title after reaching the final of the tournament last year.

Following PDC regulations, Humphries will be replaced by Kim Huybrechts, the highest-ranked player on the European Tour Order of Merit who had not yet qualified. Huybrechts, a Belgian player, will step into the opening round match against Ryan Searle on Thursday evening.

The tournament, held at the Westfalenhallen stadium, features a £150,000 prize pool. Other notable participants include world number one Luke Littler and defending champion Gian van Veen.
