Lukoil receives US deadline extension for international asset sales

The United States Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has extended the deadline for the Russian oil giant Lukoil to complete the sale of its international assets until September 19. While the extension provides potential buyers more time to finalize transactions, every individual deal remains subject to specific OFAC approval. This decision follows sanctions imposed on Lukoil in October 2025 aimed at increasing economic pressure on Moscow due to the war in Ukraine.

The extension has significant implications for Bulgaria, where Lukoil operates the Neftochim Burgas refinery and a network of approximately 500 gas stations. Additionally, the United Kingdom has extended a general license covering four Lukoil companies in Bulgaria until October 29, 2026.

In Serbia, Lukoil Srbija has announced the sale of four mothballed gas stations located in Deliblato, Grlište, and Pirot. The starting prices for these properties range from 4,000 euros for the Grlište site to 135,000 euros for the Deliblato location. The deadline for submitting offers for these Serbian assets is September 23.
