Lula and Haddad campaign event moves to Rua Augusta in São Paulo
A campaign event featuring President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and gubernatorial candidate Fernando Haddad was moved from Avenida Paulista to Rua Augusta in São Paulo on Saturday. While the Workers' Party (PT) had obtained judicial authorization from the Regional Electoral Court (TRE-SP) to hold the event on Paulista, the campaign team reported that the Military Police prevented sound trucks from parking at the original location.
The relocation followed attempts by Mayor Ricardo Nunes' administration to restrict the event, citing the need to keep major thoroughfares clear for election workers and logistics ahead of the first round of voting. The PT argued that the march would not obstruct traffic or use fixed structures. The Military Police stated they had not imposed any impediments to the desired route and were working to coordinate with municipal and state agencies to ensure safety and minimize traffic disruptions.
