Nikolas Ferreira ordered by TSE to remove post regarding Lula's speech

The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has ordered federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira to remove a social media post within 24 hours that misrepresented a speech by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The court ruled that Ferreira's post took a comment regarding women's preventive health exams out of context to create a false narrative suggesting the President was endorsing crimes against children.

The dispute escalated after Lula, speaking at a rally in Belém, compared men's resistance to prostate exams with women's routine gynecological check-ups. Ferreira's post used the clip to imply sexual connotations involving minors. In response to the controversy, President Lula criticized Ferreira during interviews, calling him an “imbecil de marca maior” (a major imbecile) and accusing him of spreading fake news.

First Lady Janja da Silva also joined the verbal exchange, insulting the deputy. Ferreira responded to the criticism on social media with an enigmatic message, stating, “Soon I will present myself, Lula. Wait.” The TSE decision noted that the deputy's actions moved the discussion from public health to criminal conduct, exceeding the bounds of political criticism.
