Several municipal legislatures in Brazil are undergoing elections for their leadership boards for the 2027/2028 biennium. In Petrolina, Filemon Sampaio was elected president following a close 6 to 5 vote. In the Sertão region, Osório Siqueira was reelected to lead the Petrolina chamber for a seventh term, maintaining a position within the mayor's support base. Other regional reelections include Anderson Harlem in Santa Maria da Boa Vista and Rogério da Aldeia in Ouricuri.

In Recife, the City Council is organizing elections for a new leadership board. A coalition supported by the executive branch, featuring Samuel Salazar as a candidate for president, is seeking consensus to create a unified slate. This political movement includes shifts in government leadership roles to align with the municipal administration.
