Lula da Silva condemns Brazilian Supreme Court amid corruption scandal

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has issued a sharp condemnation of the Supreme Federal Court, describing its recent conduct as a “spectacle of horror.” The criticism comes amid an institutional crisis involving allegations of corruption and improper influence linked to banker Daniel Vorcaro, who is currently detained for multi-million dollar fraud involving Banco Master.

Lula alleged that Vorcaro used parties and sexual favors to gain influence within the judiciary and political classes. The President suggested that at least five justices may be involved, directly or indirectly, in the scandal. Reports indicate that investigations are examining potential ties between Vorcaro’s companies and a law firm directed by the wife of Justice Alexandre de Moraes.

While some polls suggest Lula holds a lead over conservative challenger Flávio Bolsonaro, other surveys indicate a potential tie, reflecting voter uncertainty caused by the judicial scandals.
