Lula government program prioritizes education to reduce inequality

The fourth guideline of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s government program establishes education as a central pillar for reducing inequality, increasing social mobility, and supporting national development. The proposal covers stages from early childhood to higher education, including professional training and teacher appreciation.

Key objectives include meeting the goals of the National Education Plan (PNE) 2026-2036. In basic education, the program aims to expand literacy policies, with a target of reaching 80% literacy at the appropriate age, up from 66% in 2025. The plan also focuses on accelerating learning recovery for students in the final years of elementary and high school.
