Lula outlines priorities for fourth term following reelection

Following his reelection with 51.79% of the valid votes, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced several key priorities for his upcoming term. In his first speech after the results were confirmed by the Superior Electoral Court, Lula emphasized a shift in governance style, focusing on direct communication with the public via digital media to bypass traditional intermediaries.

A central pillar of his agenda is the digital economy and technological sovereignty. Lula proposed leveraging Brazil’s renewable energy potential to attract global datacenters, while conditioning their presence on the preservation of capacity for national data. He also advocated for the development of a Brazilian artificial intelligence and the regulation of big tech companies, arguing that digital platforms should be subject to legal accountability and taxation similar to physical-world entities.

In the social sectors, the president committed to the universalization of full-time education through high school and the strengthening of the 'Pé-de-Meia' program. His government plan also aims to increase the proportion of children literate at the appropriate age to 80% by 2030. Additionally, Lula called for the approval of a Constitutional Amendment (PEC) to expand federal involvement in public security to combat organized crime.
