Lula reelection coalition unveils platform focused on inequality and sovereignty

The political coalition supporting Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has unveiled an 84-page electoral program structured around 13 axes for his reelection bid. Key priorities include defending sovereignty and democracy, modernizing the state, and enhancing security.

A central pillar of the platform is the combat of regional, social, racial, and gender inequalities. To address these structural issues, the program proposes a combination of tax justice, strengthening the welfare state, increasing the minimum wage, and expanding social protection policies. Specific focus is placed on historically marginalized groups, including Black populations, Indigenous peoples, women, the LGBTQIAP+ community, and the elderly.

Economic and foreign policy goals include strengthening the economy to fund investments in health, education, and infrastructure. The document emphasizes Brazil's independent political and economic decision-making, aiming to deepen geopolitical ties with the BRICS group and the Global South. The coalition also highlights the need for tax reform to reduce regressivity and the continued expansion of programs like Bolsa Família.
