Lula supporters graffiti monuments in Paris and Barcelona

Graffiti expressing support for Brazilian presidential candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has appeared on historical monuments in Paris, France, and Barcelona, Spain. In Paris, inscriptions were found on a statue in the Place de la République and an arch dating back to 1672. In Barcelona, messages such as ‘Lula 13’ and ‘Fora Bolsonaro’ were recorded at the Plaça de Catalunya.

These incidents occurred amidst a wave of protests across Europe involving students, unions, and farmers regarding the cost of living and public services. In France, left-wing parliamentarians have expressed support for Lula via a letter in Le Monde, arguing his candidacy could prevent the rise of the far-right in Brazil. The Brazilian presidential runoff election is scheduled for Sunday, October 25.
