Lula wears Panama hat to protect health after skin cancer treatment

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has been wearing a Panama hat during public appearances, including a recent interview with TV Globo, to protect his health following medical treatment.

Lula explained that the headwear is a precaution following radiotherapy sessions used to treat skin cancer on his head, which he had removed in April. While medical professionals advised him to avoid sun exposure, the president noted he would occasionally remove the hat for supporters.

In a notable political move, Lula has also chosen to pose for his official electronic voting machine photograph while wearing the hat. Although unusual for candidates, his campaign has cited previous Superior Electoral Court (TSE) precedents regarding the use of cultural accessories to address potential legal challenges.
