Lulinha and lobbyist under investigation for influence peddling

Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, known as Lulinha, the son of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and lobbyist Roberta Luchsinger are under investigation by the Federal Police for suspected influence peddling.

Photos released by Veja magazine show Lulinha and Luchsinger traveling on a private Embraer Praetor 600 jet, valued at over US$ 20 million, during a trip to Finland in January 2025. Other images depict them with businessman Marcelo Checon, whose company reportedly secured 13 federal government contracts totaling R$ 63 million over the last three years, a significant increase from a single R$ 197,000 contract prior to Lula's 2023 inauguration.

Investigations also highlight a New Year's Eve celebration at a mansion rented by Luchsinger in Brasília, where Lulinha was seen alongside presidential cabinet officials Swedenberger Barbosa and Marco Aurélio Santana. Luchsinger has claimed that Lulinha's travels were supported by logistical aid from embassies.

Lulinha's defense maintains that the interactions are based on long-standing personal friendships and denies any wrongdoing, characterizing the investigation as a possible 'fishing expedition.' Meanwhile, Prosecutor General Paulo Gonet rejected a request from Lulinha's defense to investigate alleged leaks of confidential information related to the ongoing inquiries.
