Lully rest area truck fire injures man and destroys vehicles
A major vehicle fire occurred on Tuesday evening at the Rose de la Broye highway rest area in Lully, Switzerland. The incident began when a semi-trailer truck caught fire for unknown reasons, causing flames to spread rapidly to two other trucks and a van with a trailer parked nearby. All affected vehicles were completely destroyed.
A 55-year-old man sustained burns to his arms during the incident and was transported to a hospital by emergency services.
Emergency responders, including fire departments from Broye and Fribourg, police patrols, and medical teams from Payerne, worked to bring the blaze under control by approximately 7:15 PM. As a precaution, the rest area building was evacuated, though occupants were permitted to return by 8:00 PM.
The parking area remained closed for much of the night to allow for the removal of burnt vehicles and site restoration. Local authorities established a temporary parking area to accommodate truck drivers. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
