Lululemon Athletica faces significant stock decline and sales slump

Lululemon Athletica has experienced a substantial decline in market value, with its share price falling 54% in 2026 and approximately 78% over a five-year period. The company is currently navigating several operational and financial challenges.

Revenue in the Americas, which accounts for roughly two-thirds of the company's total revenue, has seen comparable sales declines. Management has guided toward low double-digit declines for the full year in this region. This downturn is attributed to shifting consumer behavior, as shoppers increasingly wait for markdowns or opt for cheaper competitors.

Leadership transitions have also contributed to market uncertainty. Following a period of being run by two interim co-CEOs, Heidi O'Neill took over as CEO on September 8, 2026. Since her appointment, the company has undergone a senior team reorganization, including the departure of long-tenured executives and ongoing searches for key roles such as chief brand officer and chief technology officer.

Investor sentiment remains divided. Some analysts suggest the stock may be undervalued based on operating profit per dollar of invested capital, while others argue the stock is overvalued due to slowing growth and ongoing securities fraud investigations.
