Lululemon expands China presence through community-led marketing

Lululemon is executing a community-focused growth strategy in China, prioritizing shared identity and local expertise over traditional mass advertising. Since opening its first mainland China store in Shanghai in 2016, the brand has utilized an ambassador program featuring local yoga instructors and fitness professionals in major cities like Beijing, Guangzhou, and Chengdu to build a premium athleisure category.

In addition to its international market positioning, the company is currently running various promotional events. The ‘We Made Too Much’ sale offers discounts of up to 79% on items such as leggings, hoodies, and bags. Other active promotions include specialized pricing on men’s accessories, footwear, and backpacks.
