Lululemon shares decline amid falling revenue and leadership change
Lululemon Athletica Inc. has experienced a significant stock market decline, with shares recently trading near $99. This represents a roughly 52% drop during 2026 and a 75% decline over the past five years. Despite the loss in market capitalization, the company maintains a strong balance sheet with approximately $1.4 billion in cash and remains profitable.
Recent fiscal second-quarter earnings showed a 4% decrease in revenue, while global comparable sales fell by 10%. In North America, revenue dropped 8% and comparable sales decreased by 12%. The company has projected a further revenue decline of 10% to 11% for the third fiscal quarter.
Amidst these challenges, Heidi O'Neill, a former Nike executive, assumed the role of CEO on September 8. O'Neill is tasked with rebuilding senior leadership and driving growth, with potential recovery efforts expected to influence the company's trajectory toward 2027. Additionally, trade tensions and potential tariffs between the U.S. and Canada present ongoing risks to the company's international supply chain and earnings.
