Lumajang police arrest five over plantation road blockade
Police in Lumajang have arrested five individuals following a week-long blockade of the main access road to the PT Kalijeruk Baru plantation in the Randuagung District. One individual, identified by the initial M, has been named a suspect for allegedly inciting residents to carry out the blockade.
The protest was reportedly driven by community demands for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fulfillment and cooperation regarding plasma land. The blockade disrupted local mobility and plantation operations. To manage the situation and prevent escalation, the Lumajang Police deployed 495 personnel. Authorities also seized portals used to obstruct the road, which were subsequently removed by the plantation management. The suspect faces charges under Article 321 of the Indonesian Criminal Code for unlawfully obstructing a public road.
