Lumajang truck accident kills two after brake failure hits wedding

A truck experiencing brake failure caused a fatal accident during a wedding celebration in Gucialit District, Lumajang, on Thursday, September 17, 2026. The vehicle lost control while descending a slope, striking a Suzuki Carry pickup, another parked pickup, and five motorcycles before crashing into the event's sound system.

The death toll has risen to two people, including 20-year-old Aulia Melinda, who succumbed to head injuries at the hospital. Nine other individuals sustained injuries and are receiving intensive care at RSUD dr Haryoto Lumajang. The truck driver, identified as 69-year-old Kasim, is also hospitalized due to injuries sustained when he was pinned by the steering wheel.
