Lumbini and Bagmati Chief Ministers seek votes of confidence
Chief Ministers in Nepal's Lumbini and Bagmati provinces are preparing to seek votes of confidence in their respective provincial assemblies.
In Lumbini Province, Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya has secured support from four parties: CPN-UML, Nepali Communist Party, Rastriya Janamorcha, and Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal. The Nepali Congress, the main opposition, has issued a whip for its members to vote against him, while the Janamat Party also intends to oppose the motion. The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has declared it will remain neutral.
In Bagmati Province, Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya is also seeking a vote of confidence. The RPP has instructed its provincial assembly members in both Bagmati and Lumbini to maintain a neutral stance until further decisions regarding provincial government formation are made. In Bagmati, a majority of 53 members is required to form a government.
