Lumora app enables IPTV and Jellyfin streaming on Android Auto

An independent developer has released Lumora, an open-source multimedia player designed to bring IPTV and Jellyfin server content to Android Auto. The application allows users to access M3U, M3U8, and Xtream Codes lists, as well as Jellyfin servers, directly through a vehicle's infotainment system.

Lumora features an interface similar to dedicated IPTV apps, including an Electronic Program Guide (EPG), favorites, catch-up functionality, and DVR recording. It supports various video qualities ranging from SD to 4K and can synchronize playback progress and favorites. The app is compatible with both wired and wireless connections and is also available for Android TV and Fire TV.

Because the application is not certified by Google and is distributed via GitHub as an APK, installation requires technical knowledge and tools such as Headunit Reloaded or AAAD/AA Store. For safety reasons, the application is designed to stop functioning completely once the vehicle begins to move, adhering to Android's security restrictions regarding video playback while driving.
