Lumus licenses next-gen AR waveguides to Quanta Computer

Lumus has entered into a licensing agreement with Quanta Computer to manufacture its next generation of geometric waveguides for augmented reality (AR) glasses. The partnership aims to address the practical challenges of mass-producing advanced AR optics by making them thinner, lighter, and more cost-effective.

The agreement covers three specific product lines: the Z-30 2.0 waveguide, which offers a 30-degree field of view in a lighter optical engine with increased brightness and prescription lens bonding capabilities, and the A-Lens family. The A-Lens designs, available in both 30-degree and 50-degree field-of-view options, are engineered for lower-cost production and are approximately half the weight and thickness of previous generations while maintaining image quality.

Lumus, an Israeli developer of reflective waveguide technology, intends for these advancements to support both consumer and enterprise AR devices. Quanta Computer, a major Taiwanese original design manufacturer, will handle the production of these components.
