Lundberg Family Farms expands rice recall across 12 states

Lundberg Family Farms has expanded a recall of its white jasmine rice due to potential contamination with unspecified foreign materials. The expanded recall now involves 54,648 pounds of product, totaling 27,324 two-pound packages. The rice was produced by California-based Wehah Farms.

The affected items are purple two-pound bags of Regenerative Organic Certified White Jasmine Rice. Specific identifiers include UPC 073416040281 with either lot code 260201MA (best-by Feb. 1, 2027) or lot code 260202MA (best-by Feb. 2, 2027). The product was distributed to major retailers, including Walmart, Target, and Whole Foods.

The FDA has classified this as a Class II recall, indicating that exposure could lead to temporary or medically reversible health consequences, though serious consequences are considered remote. The recall affects consumers in 12 states: California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Lundberg Family Farms stated that the affected product was removed from shelves several months ago and that no illnesses have been reported from the consumption of the product.
