Lundin Mining launches community training program for 400+ residents in Chile's Atacama region
Lundin Mining is rolling out its Community Training Programme 2027, combining the training initiatives of its Caserones and Candelaria operations in the Atacama Region of Chile. Between June and October, 31 free courses will be offered to more than 400 local residents from the communes of Tierra Amarilla, Caldera and Copiapó. The curriculum includes plant operation, welding, forklift operation, vehicle‑prevention techniques, first aid, senior‑care, security guard duties, warehouse administration and logistics.
The joint strategy is intended to broaden the programme’s reach, share best practices and better align training with local labour‑market needs. Julia Salas, manager of Social Performance and External Affairs for Caserones, said the integration “will expand the programme’s impact and help build human capital for the communities.” Sergio Molina, manager for Candelaria, added that the training “provides participants with better job prospects and improves family wellbeing.”
