Lunit announces research collaborations in AI oncology and immuno-oncology

Medical AI company Lunit has announced several research initiatives aimed at advancing cancer treatment through artificial intelligence. At the upcoming European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2026 Congress, Lunit will present findings from its ‘AI forHER’ project. This collaborative effort, involving AstraZeneca, Daiichi Sankyo, and the Institut de Cancérologie de l’Ouest, utilizes the Lunit SCOPE biomarker platform to analyze HER2 expression in breast cancer patients, specifically focusing on the challenging HER2-ultralow expression category.

Additionally, Lunit has entered into a research agreement with Summit Therapeutics to apply its Lunit SCOPE IO platform to Summit’s immuno-oncology development programs. The partnership will use AI-powered pathology to analyze hematoxylin and eosin-stained (H&E) whole-slide images to characterize tumor microenvironment features. This research aims to support the development of ivonescimab, a potential first-in-class PD-1 / VEGF bispecific antibody, by assisting in biomarker discovery and patient stratification.
