Luno halts crypto transfers for affected users, sets Aug. 31 cash‑out deadline
Luno has stopped outgoing cryptocurrency transfers for customers covered by its regional‑exit notice. The transfer window closed on June 29, leaving only the option to sell crypto and withdraw the fiat proceeds to a bank. Users must complete the sale and bank withdrawal by August 31, after which accounts will be closed on September 1 and wallet access will end. Balances below the $10 equivalent cannot be processed; larger balances may be withdrawn manually after closure, subject to verification and a fee of up to $52 per month starting in December. Luno has not identified the specific regions affected, but its publicly listed supported countries include Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Indonesia and Malaysia. The company advises customers to provide recent bank statements for manual withdrawals and notes that any remaining funds after the deadline may be retained.
