Lurraldebus to expand services in Irun and Hondarribia

Lurraldebus has announced a significant expansion and restructuring of its bus services in the Oarsoalde region, specifically serving Irun and Hondarribia, effective October 1. The changes aim to better meet the daily needs of residents and travelers, following a year that saw 10.7 million trips in these municipalities.

The updated service will consist of 29 lines operated by 58 buses, which is seven more than the current fleet. This increase will allow for extended schedules, including 24-hour service from Friday to Sunday, and improved synchronization with long-distance services arriving at the San Sebastian bus station. Additionally, connections to the San Sebastian hospital area and the Miramon technological park will be significantly increased.

Technological improvements are also being implemented, including the use of artificial intelligence to optimize services and the introduction of new buses equipped with smart ramp systems to assist passengers with mobility issues. On the N-1 road axis, bus frequency will increase to one every eight minutes.
