Luís Montenegro calls for end to rising oil prices
Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro has condemned the current international situation, describing the rise in oil prices as “senseless” and harmful to both economies and individuals. Speaking at a ceremony marking the centenary of São João da Madeira, Montenegro emphasized that the rising cost of fuel is inflating the price of essential goods due to increased transportation costs.
He noted that no economy is immune to these effects and highlighted the uncertainty caused by geopolitical, political, and commercial instabilities. Montenegro stated that he has raised these concerns with the United Nations General Assembly, the European Parliament, and partners in southern Europe, calling for a resolution to this impasse in the near future.
