Luís Montenegro commemorates 25 years of September 11 attacks

Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro issued a statement marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks in the United States. In a post on the social network X, Montenegro honored the victims of the attacks, noting that the event claimed nearly three thousand lives, including nine Portuguese citizens or people of Portuguese descent.

Montenegro remarked that “the world changed 25 years ago” and emphasized the enduring importance of political alliances and core values such as democracy, security, and freedom. He stressed the need to uphold convictions and the vitality of international alliances in the face of such historical tragedies.
