Luís Torres hospitalized in serious condition

Luís Torres, the owner of the nightclub Elefante Branco, has been admitted to Hospital São José in serious condition following seizures. Torres is currently battling advanced lung cancer with metastases in other organs.

Torres is accused of leading a criminal network involved in pimping, money laundering, and human trafficking for sexual exploitation centered at the Elefante Branco establishment. Prosecutors allege that between 2019 and 2025, his companies moved over 22 million euros. The case involves 11 other defendants, including Torres's girlfriend. He had previously been in preventive detention at the Lisbon Prison Establishment before being transferred to the Caxias Hospital-Prison due to his declining health.
