Lusa labor negotiations fail over salary increases

Negotiations between the Lusa news agency Board of Directors and several labor unions have concluded without an agreement. The dispute centers on the revision of the Company Agreement (AE) and requested salary increases for 2026.

Representing the workers are the Journalists' Union (SJ), the Workers of the Service Sector (SITESE), and the Workers of the Transforming Industries and Environmental Activities (SITE/CSRA). The unions have accused the administration of intransigence, claiming that management is attempting to condition 2026 salary increases and retroactives on the acceptance of a new company agreement containing particularly burdensome conditions for employees.

As a result of the breakdown, the unions announced they will seek conciliation through the Ministry of Labour. They also noted that they are considering future collective actions. This follows a previous request in June for arbitration through the Economic and Social Council (CES) regarding the administration's decision to denounce the existing company agreement in May.
