Lusa workers demand immediate application of 2026 salary increases

Workers at the news agency Lusa have unanimously approved a resolution demanding the immediate application of approved 2026 salary increases, including retroactive payments. More than 160 professionals participated in a plenary session to voice their opposition to the Board of Directors' attempt to link these raises to the negotiation of a new Company Agreement (AE).

The administration had formally denounced the current agreement in May, citing it as outdated, and proposed that future wage increases be contingent upon the acceptance of a new contract. Workers have characterized this move as “negotiation blackmail” intended to undermine inalienable rights. If the company refuses to negotiate the 2026 salary revisions directly and unconditionally, the workers have indicated they will seek conciliation through the Ministry of Labor.
