Lustmord and Dave Lombardo release collaborative album ‘The Pulse of Atoms’

Musicians Lustmord (Brian Williams) and Dave Lombardo have released a collaborative album titled ‘The Pulse of Atoms’ via Ipecac Recordings. The project, released on October 2, 2026, features seven tracks with a total runtime of approximately 56 minutes.

The album blends dark ambient soundscapes with experimental percussion and synthesizer layers. Lustmord, a prominent figure in dark ambient music, provided the initial sound designs, which Lombardo—known for his work with Slayer, Fantômas, and Dead Cross—expanded upon with drums, percussion, and additional synthetic textures. Both artists contributed to the writing, recording, and production of the record, with Lustmord handling the mix and mastering.

The collaboration originated after the two met backstage at a Fantômas concert, facilitated by Buzz Osborne of the Melvins. The resulting music is described as an immersive, atmospheric experience that defies easy categorization within industrial, metal, or ambient genres.
