Lutfor Rahman honored with national award for 52 years of teaching
Lutfor Rahman, widely known as the ‘one taka master’ from Gaibandha, has received a national honor for his five decades of service to education. For 52 years, Rahman has provided lessons to underprivileged children for a symbolic fee of just one taka, helping multiple generations access education despite not being a formal institutional teacher.
During a ceremony held at the Osmani Memorial Hall in Dhaka to mark World Teachers' Day, Prime Minister Tarek Rahman presented the award. In addition to the recognition, which included a crest and a certificate, the Prime Minister announced that Rahman would receive a retirement pension in recognition of his lifelong contribution to society.
Rahman was one of 102 distinguished teachers honored at the event. The ceremony, organized by the Ministry of Education, recognized educators for their exceptional contributions to the field, including those in special categories for non-institutional service.
