Luup children and youth literature festival held in Tartu

The Luup children and youth literature festival, held in Tartu, Estonia, recently marked its tenth anniversary with various educational and creative events across local schools and libraries.

At Raatuse school, author Jana Maasik met with 134 students to discuss her books, including ‘Enne lõppu’ and ‘Minuga on kõik hästi’. The event included dramatic interpretations of literary excerpts performed by students and teachers.

At Tamme Gymnasium, author Urmas Vadi visited students on October 15. Additionally, the Tartu Youth Poetry Prize took place at the Tartu City Library, where 20 young poets performed. Notable winners included Sandra Roosileht, who secured first place in the 16–19 age category and earned a spot in the national poetry competition. The festival also featured the ‘Viieviisi’ poetry competition, which challenges participants to incorporate specific mandatory words into their verses.
