Luup to launch micro-mobility pilot in Hirosaki, Aomori
Luup Inc. has announced a pilot program to introduce its micro-mobility sharing service to Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture. This marks the first time the service will be available in Aomori Prefecture.
The demonstration project is scheduled to run from September 18 to November 9, 2026, coinciding with the Hirosaki Castle Chrysanthemum and Autumn Leaves Festival. The initiative is part of the Hirosaki Tourism DX Promotion project, aiming to improve secondary transportation and mobility for tourists visiting the city's historical and cultural sites.
The service will feature 16 electric-assist bicycles available at three specific ports: Hirosaki Ekimae Park, the Hirosaki City Tourism Hall, and the Hirosaki City Machinaka Information Center. Users can access the bicycles 24 hours a day via the Luup smartphone application at a rate of 300 yen per hour.
