Luutu and Pavie lead opening round of Uganda Seniors Open

Elijah Luutu and Cathie Pavie have taken the lead in the men’s and ladies’ categories following the opening round of the Johnnie Walker Uganda Seniors Open at the Uganda Golf Club in Kampala.

In the men’s division, Luutu shot a level par 72, securing a five-stroke lead. Kenya’s Gurbux Singh holds second place at 5 over par, followed by Uganda’s Hassan Pirani. Defending champion Dave Plenderleith struggled in the opening round, recording a score of 10 over par.

In the women’s category, defending champion Cathie Pavie leads by three strokes after carding an 85. Rose Azuba is in second place with an 88, while Grace Kabonero sits in third with a 91. The tournament field included 82 golfers, consisting of 71 men and 11 ladies.
