Luvinate Mayor Alessandro Boriani wins Angelo Vassallo Prize
Alessandro Boriani, the mayor of Luvinate, has been awarded the 2026 Angelo Vassallo Prize. The award was presented during a ceremony in Pollica-Acciaroli to commemorate the anniversary of the death of Angelo Vassallo.
Boriani received the recognition for his leadership in developing the Associazione Fondiaria Valli delle Sorgenti. This initiative was created following extreme weather events to address forest property fragmentation and promote sustainable woodland management. Through collaborations with the Lombardy Region, Fondazione Cariplo, and European Union LIFE programs, the project focuses on biodiversity protection, ecosystem safeguarding, and preventing hydrogeological instability caused by forest abandonment.
The ceremony was attended by Pollica Mayor Stefano Pisani, Legambiente President Stefano Ciafani, and Angelina Vassallo.
