Luxair receives first two company-owned Boeing 737-8 aircraft

Luxair has officially taken delivery of its first two company-owned Boeing 737-8 aircraft. The planes, identified as LX-LBC and LX-LBD, were presented during a ceremony at the airline's maintenance hangar at Luxembourg Airport.

LX-LBC entered commercial service on August 15 after being ferried from Seattle, while LX-LBD arrived in Luxembourg more recently. Both aircraft are configured to carry 186 passengers and offer a range of 5,740 kilometers. The airline noted that these new models provide approximately a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, alongside a 50% reduction in noise footprint compared to the models they are replacing.

This delivery is part of a broader fleet renewal program valued at over one billion euros, which also includes the recent acquisition of four Embraer E2 aircraft. Luxair aims to complete its full fleet modernization by the mid-2030s. The airline has previously operated two leased 737 MAX 8 aircraft as a bridge to these direct deliveries.
