Luxembourg Airport Sees Surge in Drug Seizures, 500kg Cocaine Hidden in Starch

In 2025 Luxembourg Airport’s cargo hub intercepted nearly 3.5 tonnes of illegal drugs. Seizures included about 2.3 tonnes of marijuana, 870 kg of cocaine, 108 kg of hashish and 74 kg of methamphetamine. A particularly notable find was 500 kg of cocaine concealed in food‑starch sacks from Brazil, valued at roughly €100 million.

Police say most shipments originated in South America and were intended for other European markets, making Luxembourg primarily a transit point rather than a domestic market. Authorities noted a clear increase in both the number of shipments and total quantities but stressed there is no indication Luxembourg is becoming a leading European drug‑trade hub.
