Luxembourg Beach Open kicks off with 60 teams in Esch-sur‑Alzette

The 31st Luxembourg Beach Open began at Gaalgebierg near Esch‑sur‑Alzette, featuring 60 teams – ten of them mixed – competing across five sand courts. The sand was shipped from the Belgian coast and the event is organised by the Escher Volleyball Club with help from longtime volunteer Manu Thein, who has been involved since the tournament’s launch in 1995.

In addition to the volleyball matches, the Open hosts nightly parties, including an After‑Work DJ session and a Pitcher Beach Party that draw hundreds of spectators. Semi‑finals were contested on Sunday, with men’s pairs Colin Hilbert/Steve Weber and Lucas Pernossi/Matthis Wolff reaching the final, and women’s pairs Carlotta Kauka/Lara Picht and Lola Ruellan/Nadja Schaus set to decide the title. The event has become a staple summer sporting and cultural gathering for the Greater Region.
