Luxembourg commuter satisfaction and fuel price update

Cross-border commuters in the Luxembourg region face significant challenges regarding transportation and costs. A recent Luxmobil study reveals low satisfaction levels among foreign workers commuting to Luxembourg. German commuters report spending an average of two hours and 20 minutes on their daily commute, compared to one hour and 51 minutes for local employees. Only 56 percent of German commuters expressed satisfaction with their travel, while satisfaction rates were even lower for Belgian (55 percent) and French (43 percent) workers. Issues cited include long traffic jams, frequent train cancellations, and poor coordination between bus and rail services.

In terms of fuel costs, Luxembourg maintains competitive pricing for drivers from neighboring regions. As of September 23, 2026, the state-regulated maximum prices are 2.055 Euro per liter for diesel, 1.849 Euro for Super 95 (E10), and 2.075 Euro for Super 98. Super 95 remains the most economical option, costing approximately 10.30 Euro less than diesel for a 50-liter tank fill.
