Luxembourg fuel and tobacco prices set to rise
Luxembourg is seeing increases in the costs of consumer goods, specifically fuel and tobacco.
On August 12, 2026, fuel prices in Luxembourg are set to rise. Diesel is expected to see the most significant increase of approximately 10.6 cents per liter, bringing the price to 1.904 euros. Unleaded 95 and 98 gasoline prices are also projected to rise by 7 cents, reaching 1.689 euros and 1.844 euros respectively. Despite these hikes, prices in Luxembourg remain lower than those reported in nearby French regions such as Lorraine.
Additionally, tobacco prices are being impacted by fiscal policy. Following a 5.5% tax increase on January 1, 2025, a new tax hike is scheduled for January 1, 2026. This trend is gradually narrowing the price gap between Luxembourg and France. For Winston brand products, classic carton prices are estimated between 52 and 55 euros, while specific formats like Winston Blue 100 are noted at 15.90 euros.
