Luxembourg implements new affordable housing law
Luxembourg is implementing new legislation aimed at addressing the country's housing crisis through three primary pillars: facilitating the construction of new affordable housing, increasing financial support for municipalities, and improving the management of existing housing stock.
The updated law introduces increased funding for the renovation and energy efficiency of existing buildings to better utilize current assets. Additionally, state funding ceilings will now be adjusted based on regional land prices to reflect local market realities.
In terms of housing allocation, single-parent households will now be included as a specific criterion to assist parents facing difficulties in accessing housing. The law also provides social landlords with a more flexible framework to manage rental properties for specific public groups.
