Luxembourg leads Europe in newest vehicle fleet rankings
A report from B2B automotive company eCarsTrade reveals significant disparities in vehicle age and renewal rates across more than 30 European countries. Luxembourg leads the continent with the newest vehicle fleet, where nearly 43% of registered cars are less than five years old and the annual fleet renewal rate exceeds 10%.
Belgium ranks second, with over one-third of its vehicles being less than five years old and a fleet renewal rate of approximately 7.5%. Denmark holds the third position; while 28% of its cars are under five years old, the country shows high electric vehicle (EV) adoption, with battery-powered cars making up roughly 12% of its total fleet and over half of all new sales being fully electric.
The United Kingdom ranks fourth, notable for having the lowest share of very old vehicles, with fewer than 5% of its cars aged 20 years or more. In the UK, EVs accounted for approximately 19% of new registrations in 2024.
